Blockhead – “Funeral Balloons” (Release)

Veteran underground NYC producer Blockhead is back with his latest instrumental hip-hop project, Funeral Balloons, which is out now with Backwoodz Studioz. For the uninitiated, Blockhead has received acclaim for his work with rapper Aesop Rock, labels Definitive Jux and Ninja Tune, and has had a sprawling career of collaborations and solo projects. Funeral Balloons is a 12-track instrumental journey, complete with eclectic instrumentation, chunky vintage drums, funky percussion, and moody synth passages. At times a somber, emotional exploration, but somehow retains a light heartedness through out. In that way, Funeral Balloons is an apt title for the project. It’s good to see that Blockhead is still at it.
