Todays stream is of the original version of, “Crushin” produced by me. We have J Rocc to thank for this one. I was Djing with Houseshoes in San Fran with Fran Boogie and DJ Mr. E. We heard J Rocc was staying in the same hotel and went to holla at him. We were talking about Dilla rarities when he said that he liked that version of, “Crushin” I did. I was like what version!?! He played it and it split my melon! I did that beat for Dilla circa 2002 for his MCA project – I assumed he never used it when I didn’t hear anything. Turns out it was the original version that he later remixed himself for his then – newly founded label, Mummy Records.

New video from the Philly kid and latest member of the Re-Up Gang, Asaad. Here’s his latest joint “Jumanji Flow.” Says A: “I produced & wrote this song 10 minutes after lucid dreaming. Its essentially a direct stream of consciousness. The new black Patrick Bateman if you will.” Video directed by sperry and Tucker Bliss. The song will appear on Asaad’s upcoming project, New Black History Month, set to drop on the 28th via Karmaloop.

I decided to do a bit of a random freestyle photoshop doodle. I had no idea what I was going to make or how I was going to do it, just knew photoshop was the tool. You can see as I use google images as a bed to pull images from and just combine them all into some cosmic folley.

The total time spent working on this piece was 1:30 mins, once I realized how long it had been, I just wrapped up shop. Normally I would take something like this into after effects and put the top layer of processing on.

Months ago when we dropped a hint that one more Madlib Medicine Show was to come, little did we know that the Madlib Invazion label would find itself dealing with the problem of one printing press after the next refusing to run the artwork. Some who have seen this artwork describe it as “mutant porn.” Others simply shake their heads, set it down, wash their hands. Now that an offshore press specializing in “fringe adult publications” has taken the job, the ‘secret Medicine Show’ will finally be released on March 1st.
