Fly Anakin – “The Grand Scheme of Things” (Release)

Richmond, Virginia’s Fly Anakin is a talented young rapper, and he’s out to prove it on The Grand Scheme of Things, which is out now on Inner Ocean Records. He is a representative of the Richmond-based Mutant Academy crew, and is joined by a roster of underground beat scene luminaries. The album includes beats from Ohbliv, Ewonee, Tropes, Noah Rime$, Cashby, Foisey, Nikobeats, and Fly Anakin himself. The production lends heavily towards the album’s eclectic feel, as does Anakin’s weaving in of spoken word poetry throughout key moments. The album’s vibe is steeped in early 90’s east coast rap, with a delivery sometimes reminiscent of a young AZ. However, the project feels fresh, and Anakin switches up his flow often. The album features guest appearances from Maxo, Koncept Jack$on, Michael Millions, Peter $un, and Henny L.O.

The Grand Scheme of Things is available now as a free download or as a limited edition cassette tape through Bandcamp or the Inner Ocean website.
