Poindexter – “The Great” (Release)

Naptown’s Poindexter just dropped his long-awaiting follow-up to his Legendary project, a 12-track full-length titled The Great. The project has production features from Bangers by One, TyjuanOnTheBeat, Nastradomas, pmbeats, Yankes & Geechie, Ced L Young, Qwon Don, and Xeno Carr. No features.

The one thing I’ve always liked about Poindexter is the way his sense of humor meets his honesty, and this project is even more of that. There were times where I laughed out loud. Now standing at 20 years old, I can definitely hear the growth in the way he’s crafted his subject matter.

More specifically, there’s a sequence of songs touching on different situations with young women, including a hilarious song about white girls. The project flows in and out of itself, and he even summoned his best E-40 and Mannie Fresh on a couple different songs. Throw in his patented “stop rapping I’m better than you” infused-tracks with hype production, and you have a pretty solid project.
