Oreo Jones ft. Jilly Hex “No Coast” Video | @OreoJones

    Directed by Boss L.

Here’s another video from Oreo Jones‘ debut album Betty. Featuring J-Hex, this 90 Lbs produced cut is one of the many dope tracks off of one of the more solid albums I’ve heard come out of Naptown. Check out Betty here.

Continuing to ride the wave from his album Betty, Oreo Jones is now prepared to release the second single and music video from the LP. For the second singe, Oreo has chosen the 90lbs produced and J-hex assisted Midwest anthem “No Coast”. The visuals for “No Coast” were directed by Boss L and produced by his company Phantom of Power. The perseverance and talent of Oreo Jones will ensure the Midwest Rising proclaimed by the song.

Let’s Do Lunch w/ Oreo Jones featuring Ryan Hickey of Oranje (Video) | @OreoJones @OranjeINDY

    Video by Digital Rabbit.

In my prep for the Oranje Festival this year, I noticed this kitchen area and actually wondered if this was where Oreo Jones did his series. After looking around and remembering his old set I realized that it probably wasn’t, but then this video emerged.

In this episode, Oreo does lunch with Ryan Hickey of Oranje (who is also known as DJ Helicon), and they get into some Oranje-styled jello shots and various fried foods. And swag angels.

The festival is at the Centennial Hall building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds tomorrow evening (9/22/12) from 8PM until 2AM, and is only $20. If you grab your ticket today you save 5 bucks. Only 10 hours left to get the discount! Make sure you come out, and while you’re at it, come by and spit some raps or vocal stylings at our booth!

Oreo Jones “Betty” Release | @OreoJones

I was actually sent this project a little early to check it out, but today was the first chance I’ve had to sit down with Naptown Oreo Jones‘s debut album Betty. Although you can check out a pretty in-depth write-up by label Rad Summer, I do have to chime in and say this is one of my favorite releases to come out of Indianapolis since my move here 3-4 years ago. The sound is very consistent, it’s crisp, and Oreo has done a great job crafting this project. The project is mostly produced by 90 lbs, but J. Brookinz, Dorsh, and even Oreo himself chipped in a little with the soundscape. Give this a listen below, and if you head over to the Rad Summer page and hit the like button, you can download it for free.

The past year has been a year of growth for Oreo Jones, and the Indianapolis based emcee has documented it in his first full length release Betty. Evolving from the party monster that everyone has come to love on tracks like “Good Times”, “Cordon Bleu”, and “Reggie Miller”, this album finds Oreo delving deeper into his own identity and story with songs like “House Nigga”, “Frankie”, and “Rotate”. Despite the introspection, Betty is still replete with bangers such as “No Coast” ft. J-hex and “Needy” ft. Freddie Bunz. Betty is a testament of Oreo maturing from a local rapper into a gifted song writer and emcee. You can download the album for free, cop the deluxe edition at all fine digital retailers, or grab the CD at Oreo’s release party on September 7th at White Rabbit Cabaret in Indianapolis!

The past few years have been extremely busy for Indianapolis emcee Oreo Jones. In the past year, OJ has orchestrated an indie rock collab EP, dropped his highly successful single and video “Cordon Bleu”, collaborated with Action Jackson on their smash Black Fabio mixtape, performed at several of the best indie shows in Nap, and most recently was voted the #1 hip-hop act in Indianapolis by Nuvo News. With his debut album Betty set to release September 4th via Rad Summer, Oreo has several music videos, singles, and events planned for the next few months!
