Bright Light: alpha.live & Freeway LIVE in the Barber Shop | @alphaisforever @phillyfreezer

Wednesday, 8/4/2010, was a big day for my video camera here in Indianapolis. Jake One & Freeway (along with J Moore) traveled here to do a Red Bull Q&A, and show later in the evening at the Jazz Kitchen.
A little background on this video: DJ MetroGnome hit me and a few other Indianapolis producers up to submit a track for the Freezer himself to spit on at the show, and Soul Cinematik’s got chosen (props to him, it was a dope joint). At the same time, MetroGnome got a track from Jake One for a few Indianapolis emcee’s to hop on. Later on in the evening (which you’ll probably see in my other footage), I found out who the other two emcee’s were. Alpha was the only guy present for this little impromptu specialness, as you can see. Props to Indianapolis hip hop, Red Bull, Freeway, Jake One, J Moore (Indianapolis & Seattle), the Jazz Kitchen, Tara Barber Shop, and everybody that was a part of making this a great experience. I’m still in the process of editing all of the footage from the actual Q&A, and event that evening at the Jazz Kitchen, but here’s the first phase. Enjoy!

Maja 7th & Fake Shore Drive Present: The Breakout Mixtape
I’m late to the party, as my net has been down for a week in a transition to a new provider, but The Breakout Mixtape is here. Props to Maja 7th for putting the amount of work he has to release this project. There are some really good cuts on here with artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Mikkey Halsted, Starrs & Murph, Pill, Phil G, Mike Schpitz aka LoveJones, Pete Sayke, GLC, Jap City, Dave Coresh, Naledge, Mick Luter, Pugz Atomz, and even Hinx Jones w/ Papi Jamon. DJ’s MetroGnome and Castle also provided cuts on a couple songs.

I’d go into it more, but there’s no need to. Shout out to ILL Brown who mastered the project. 16 tracks of heat!!!

This Saturday (February 27th, 2010), the album “listening” party for THE BREAKOUT MIXTAPE will be in Chicago at the Tonic Room. If you’re around, or in the area, you should come out and have a good time! I know I’m going to try to make a trip up for it!! The project is Maja 7th’s production over Chicago’s finest hip hop artists, and is mastered by ILL Brown. DJ MetroGnome from Indianapolis will be spinning . Be there!

“If you’re in Chicago on Saturday, I’d like to invite you over to the Tonic Room, as Maja 7th and FSD will be hosting a listening session for our upcoming project The Breakout. You’ll get to hear a lot of the project first, and celebrate Maja’s hard work. It will definitely be a good time, so if you’re available, please stop by and say Hello.”- FSD

“Indianapolis’ DJ Metrognome just hit us up with his latest mixtape, Soul Supreme v.1. The mix is a lesson is digging, blending, and quality DJing as Metrognome travels through soul music stopping at classic as well as lesser-known gems.” – rubyhornet.com
br>
“My goal with this project was to combine some of the bigger names on the soul scene (Sade, Dwele, Goapele, etc) with lesser-known but equally talented artists (Coultrain, Ayah, PPP’s, etc). The download link will provide with you all the music (individual song files + 1 long mix for those that have cluttered iTunes that are always on shuffle) as well as the artwork and tracklisting.” – DJ MetroGnome
