Yasiin Bey is always creating in one form or another, and on occasion, the fruits of his creation are made public. “Marigolds” is a track recorded at Kenny Allen Studios in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The song was recorded in one take, using no overdubs, and is held together by a bass-driven instrumental from New Zealand soul band Electric Wire Hustle.

On “Marigolds”, Bey improvises what shapes up to be a beautiful, raw and cohesive ballad.
