Aquil “Land of Synth” Release | @Aquil84

    Aquil - Land of Synth

Land of Synth is Aquil‘s first full Length LP that involves production using synthesizers, issues on authenticity and synthetic feelings, and features several dope producers on the boards. Give this a listen below.

“Land of Synth” plays on several themes of synthetic sounds, to the synthetic roles played by artist in the “music industry to every day life. Influences run the gamut Sun Ra, Wutang to Nas, Tupac, The Roots, Mos Def, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, Pharaoh Monch, and Outkast to name a few. “Land of Synth” reveals heavy themes of political corruption, illegal wars, to lighter topics of appreciating life and the use of imagination. From the very first verse Aquil takes you on a journey of the mind and heart of major over arching themes of life, imagination and perception. The ability to take the esoteric, and imaginative elements then making them blend to melodies is Aquil’s strongest talent. The diversity of topics, flows, and overall refreshing production ranging from electronic influence to acid jazz and 90s hip hop will be sure to keep your ears interested. It is a journey inside ones self via introversion to those places few dare to look and even more refuse to contemplate. Land of Synth tackles heavy issues with a tenacity yet overall light heartiness and positive outlook on the other side.

The Black Opera “Libretto: of King Legend” Release & “Balcony” Video | @TheBlackOpera

    Directed by Andy Madeleine.

The Black Opera actually show themselves a bit for their latest visual Balcony from Libretto: of King Legend that dropped today. The project is 16 tracks with featured artists on the album such as Mayer Hawthorne, Boog Brown, Lalibella, and Melody Betts, and production form Astronote, 14KT, and Oddisee. This is definitely one I suggest checking out. Does this mean that we can reveal who they are? I’ll hold my tongue for now.

Dennis Coffey “Outer Galaxies” Re-worked by 14KT, Buff1, Mayer Hawthorne, Astronote & Others (Release)

I’ve had this sitting in my email box marked as “read” for about a week or so, and am finally getting around to getting it to you. You can grab it by heading over to this site and putting down your email address. Check a preview I’ve uploaded below, and if you don’t know, here’s a little about Dennis Coffey:

Dennis Coffey’s music has represented the heartbeat of Detroit since the ‘60s, running a thread through the city’s soul, funk and disco classics and, later, through hip hop thanks to a clutch of seminal Coffey breaks. The Detroit connection loomed large on Coffey’s latest self-titled album with a handful of classic Motor City songs and guest appearances from local heroes Mayer Hawthorne, Mick Collins (The Dirtbombs) and more. Coffey and Strut now take the link a step further, enlisting a vibrant array of talent from the city’s rich electronic and hip hop community for a remix collection of tracks from the album. We assembled some of the most talented artists from the Detroit area, all influenced by Coffey’s work, for a collection of reinterpretations and remixes of his new tracks. Just some more top quality Motor City funk for your listening enjoyment.

    Tracklisting:
    1. 7th Galaxy feat. Jamall Bufford (14 KT remix)
    2. I Bet You (version) (DeepSeeSoundSyetem mix)
    3. All Your Goodies Are Gone feat. Mayer Hawthorne (Shigeto remix)
    4. Plutonius (Recloose Re-Dub) Cuts by DJ CXL
    5. Imported From Detroit (Magestik Legend, Produced by Astronote) made from samples of Knockabout
    6. Miss Millie feat. Kings Go Forth (Dabrye’s Synthesized mix)
    7. Space Traveller (Nick Speed remix)
    8. Only Good For Ectomorph (Ectomorph appears courtesy of Interdimensional Transmissions)
