K-Maxx “K-Maxx / Sweater Funk Presents” Release | @kmaxxmusic

K-Maxx and his Sweater Funk crew recently released this new self-titled 4-track EP. Prepare for a “funky, soulful journey with a hint of nostalgia, while sonically moving in new directions”. You can pre-order the vinyl over at Soundboutique, and head to Bandcamp to get it digitally.

Featuring four modern funk songs aimed straight at the lovers and dancers. K-Maxx’s new EP is about love and the quest for it, but in a genuine & honest way. With all of the slick talk regarding male/female relationships in music these days, K-Maxx thought it would be refreshing to have some tunes where the guy is really enamored with a girl without fear of being corny or un-cool. “I’m trying to help the fellas put the guards down with their ladies!”

The music plays out like a love affair: The first time you meet eyes (Eye On You), the weekend long love session (Cupcakin’), time to tell the friends (Make It Official) and that genuine love you can depend on (My Medicine).

K-Maxx is no stranger to the SF Bay Area music scene, having released his first Hip Hop album “Still Rollin'” in the late nineties. He was an MC and vocalist on that record and remains one to this day. Producing and writing for many Bay Area artists, in the last few years he’s started to showcase his singing. A musician and singer since childhood, his multi-instrument talents on guitar, bass, drums and keys put a personal stamp on the music. Original compositions and songwriting that wears it’s retro R & B influence on his sleeve provide a refreshing take on the funk.
