#KANSAS: DVS Mindz “The DVSTORY Part 1 and 2” Video

If you aren’t from around Kansas and didn’t know much about the hip hop scene in the late 90’s, you might not have heard of the legendary DVS Mindz crew but those of you who were, you know that these cats represented hard for Topeka.  Along with a few other artists, DVS was Topeka hip hop.  They dropped an album called Million Dolla Broke Niggaz, that is still a Top City classic.  They rocked shows all over, opening for legendary artists like Run DMC, Wu Tang Clan, Sugarhill Gang, Redman, De La Soul, Digital Underground, Das EFX, Black Sheep, and Goodie Mob.  Although they have not been making music as a crew for a while, a couple of the members have been still releasing music, most recently, str8jakket, who dropped a song with Rock from Heltah Skeltah.  str8jakket recently released parts 1 and 2 of a documentary called The DVSTORY.  It is pretty crazy seeing all this old footage and seeing how these cats got down over a decade ago.  This is an time capsule of Topeka and Kansas hip hop history and definitely worth checking out!
