magic dj – “kpw” (Release)

magic dj is the latest alias of Portland, Oregon-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Parker Johnson. Parker has released music under a myriad of other monikers including, but probably not limited to: Itasca Phasar, Italics, and Wagner. His latest project, kpw, is a collection of psychedelic dubbed out hip hop beats. Textures breathe in and out of phase with Johnson’s swinging drum rhythms, choppy reverb drenched guitar, zoned out synthesizers and piano samples. He has a unique talent for crafting rich textures, lo-fi atmospheres, and immersive spaces in his mixes. There are some serious heaters on here. Basically the dude is really talented, has a lot of musical range, and is incredibly slept on. So get woke, throw on a pair of headphones, and zone out. Stream kpw below.
